Tenant Electricity
Tenant electricity refers to electricity generated in close spatial proximity to the consumer and not transmitted through public grids. This locally produced electricity, for example, from rooftop photovoltaic systems, is supplied directly to tenants, regulated under Section 42a of the German Energy Industry Act (EnWG), and economically supported. The concept of district electricity extends this model to neighborhood‑wide energy supply.
For the building sector, tenant electricity enables new business models, direct tenant participation in the energy transition, and an increase in property value. At the same time, it requires high transparency and precise energy management. In commercial properties, aedifion provides the necessary data foundation, monitors generation and consumption, and optimizes the local use of renewable electricity through intelligent demand side management.
