User Electricity

User Electricity

User electricity, also referred to as occupant electricity consumption, refers to the electricity consumption that tenants or occupants use directly for their own devices and activities, such as household appliances, consumer electronics, or office and communication equipment.

In contrast to general electricity (e.g., lighting in stairwells, elevators) and electricity used for technical building systems (e.g., heating, ventilation, air conditioning), user electricity is not part of the building’s technical power demand and cannot be captured through the assessment of building services systems.

Good to know: User electricity describes the type of consumption, not the source of supply. It can come from conventional grid electricity or locally generated tenant electricity (e.g., from photovoltaics).
